One of the reasons that article marketing works is that there is little cost involved. It doesn’t cost you anything but time to begin writing articles. There is a certain freedom to article marketing as you can write as many articles as you want and submit them to as many article directories as possible. In fact, many successful affiliate marketers write thousands of articles generating massive backlinks for their websites. This is an excellent way for getting lots of free targeted traffic, to create a large email marketing list, and to really begin making money online.

During the article submission process, some directories submit your article to RSS directories further increasing the syndication of the article. With more readers to your articles, chances are your traffic will increase for your website. Your website’s backlinks will also increase because of the articles, and search engines will rank your site higher. Backlinks are very important because they help the search engines measure the relevance of your website, and because many people find your website by reading articles online.

Be sure to target related keywords in your articles. You want keywords that relate to the content in your site, and you want to refine your keywords to the point where they will drive traffic to your website. Look for long tail keywords that do nothave a lot of competition, and pay attention to the number of searches that people are doing each month. The Google Keywords tool is an online tool that can help you to locate these keywords.

Include your keywords in the title of your article, and spread out through your article. For every 100 – 150 words, try to insert your keyword. One of my article marketing strategies is to use one keyword per article. Create articles that are at least 400 – 700 words in length. Longer articles seem to get picked up better by the search engines, especially Google. Write good clear articles, and engage your audience. Write as if you are talking to a person about your subject. Try not to write an article that speaks to an audience. The effect of speaking to one person in your article is more effective for getting that person to your website. If the article is more personalized, then the reader is more likely to click the link and sign up for your offer.

You don’t have to be a professional writer to get started with affiliate marketing. You can read about what others do by scanning article directories, online marketing blogs, and learning new techniques. The most difficult part of article marketing in my opinion is getting started. Once you cross that hurdle and create a plan for yourself, you can start making money online!
